4. Why did you chose Delta Zeta?
I chose Delta Zeta because I really admired the women in the chapter.  I was really young when I went through recruitment and I wanted to be just as confident and comfortable as the women from DZ.  I knew that DZ would help me grow.

5. Favorite Delta Zeta memory:
Watching my DZ family grow.  Seeing my little sisters become big sisters has been SO wonderful!

6. Favorite memory at San Jose State University:
Being on the Homecoming Court!  It was such an honor and was truly special.  Having all of my sisters there supporting me was amazing.

7. Best lesson Delta Zeta has taught me:
Be proactive, communicate honestly and hold myself accountable.

8. Advice you wish you knew before starting college/sorority membership:
Have fun!  Learn a lot, be patient and own your choices.

9. What are your future plans?
I am going to graduate school to study Student Affairs and Higher Education.  I plan to be an advisor on a college campus working with students in athletics, fraternity and sorority life, student leadership or student conduct.

10. What role has Delta Zeta played in your future? What skills have you gained? How will you be involved as an alumna?
Delta Zeta has set me up with SO many skills and experiences that will help me to be successful in my personal and professional life.  I have learned to love, communicate, problem solve and manage time and stress.  As an alumna, I hope to serve as a chapter advisor.  I also hope to become a Release Figures Method specialist for the National Panhellenic Conference.

Flames are Burning and We're on FIRE

Last Monday we hosted a program on fire and personal safety.

Dreamy firemen and some DZ Dad's came to our chapter house to check our home for safety and share safety tips with us.

Greek Week. Homecoming. #Winning.

Last week was a TON of fun for our chapter!

We started off the week with a visitor from National.  Victoria, an Educational Leadership Consultant for Delta Zeta National, spent the week with us.  While she was here, she met with each chairwoman and gave our chapter leaders lots of ideas.

We took her all over the place, and are glad that she left preferring Northern California to Southern California.  We went to Los Gatos, Santa Cruz, WIllow Glen and San Francisco.  We showed her around downtown San Jose and took her on a tour of our campus and library.

Spotlight on a Senior: Erin

1. Name
Erin

2. Semester Joined:
Fall 2009

3. Degree:
Marketing

4. Why did you chose Delta Zeta:
I chose DZ because these girls I could tell were going to be my best friends and I was right. Everyone is so different but we all come together and are very close. I love the strong sisterhood in the house and the passion everyone has for Delta Zeta. I truly have become a better person in this chapter not and I would trade my experience in DZ for anything in the world.

5. Favorite Delta Zeta Memory:
My favorite Delta Zeta memory is when I got both my little sisters, Alissa and Jacque. I love them both so much and I was so excited when I found out I was going to be their Big Sister. I feel like the ultimate dream is to eventually have littles and I'm so lucky to have two amazingsisters that I can call little.

6. Favorite memory at San Jose State University:
My favorite memory at San Jose State was heading the Student Organization Leadership Conference. I was in charge of making sure all 1300 people showed up and managed 100 volunteers for the day of. It was so exciting to see everything put together and I was really proud of what I accomplished. I'm never going to forget that feeling and experience.

7. Best lesson Delta Zeta has taught you:
That you can do anything. Everything I accomplished here at San Jose State, running a conference with 1500 attendees, being on Exec and managing 12 programming members, along with balancing school, friendship, relationships and work has taught me that there's nothing I can't handle in the real world because I put everything I have in to these years and I accomplished so much.

8. Advice you wish you knew before starting college/sorority membership:
Life is short. Experience everything and regret nothing. College is going to come and go to fast for you to wait at all to experience something you have an interest in. Also, take positions. Each position has given me so much. I don't understand why you wouldn't take such amazing opportunities if they are offered to you.

9. What are your future plans?
I want to be a Vice President of Marketing. My true passion in life is to inspire and motivate people to get excited with what they do and to do more.

10. What role has Delta Zeta played in your future? What skills have you gained? How will you be involved as an alumna?
I believe I will be a leader in any job I get offered which will get me closer to my dream job and that is because of my experience in Delta Zeta. I have gained managing skills, event planning skills, leadership skills, academic knowledge, etc from being in DZ. I am confident of my future. I will always find some way to be part of Delta Zeta whether it be helping with recruitment, attending alumni events, being an advisor, donating supplies and money, anything I could give back to the house I would do.

--Erin is a Senior Marketing Major, and our chapter Vice President of Programming.  She served as a Recruitment Counselor during Panhellenic Recruitment and as a Student Assistant for the Student Involvement assisting in the planning of the Student Organization Leadership Conference.

Song Song Song Song Song Song Song!!!!!!

Monday September 26th Delta Zeta hosted our first serenade of the semester with the gentlemen of Sigma Nu. We had an amazing time introducing their Fall 2011 pledge class to our Spring 2011 initiates and Fall 2011 new members!  After the serenade we invited them into our living room to mingle. The men of Sigma Nu treated us with genuine kindness and impressed us with their swag.

The lovely ladies of Delta Zeta are super excited to branch out socially this semester. Our next social will be a BBQ held on October 6th, 2011 with Sigma Chi. We look forward to getting out and meeting as many members of the San Jose State community as possible.
